Sign Up for the Best Dressed for Less Military Pre-Sale

Best Dressed for Less is thrilled to offer this AWESOME opportunity to local military families!

BDFL takes great pride in supporting our local Military Families. Families serve just as their uniformed service members do. This is their way of saying thank you!

Each adult who wishes to attend the private military family pre-sale MUST register through the website.

Once registered you will receive an email (your pre-sale pass) with authorization number. At several places in the automated registration process you will see NEW MOM PRE-SALE instead of MILITARY FAMILY PRE-SALE…do not worry the term “new mom” is hard coded and can not be altered at this point.

You must print and bring this pass with you in addition to your valid military ID to be admitted to shop from 6-9 pm on Thursday, May 2nd 2013.  If possible, we recommend you leave your kids at home with a trusted caregiver…this pre-sale can be very crowded.

{40 Bags in 40 Days} Share Your Expired & Unwanted Coupons With The Military!

United states military

As part of the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge, I’m cleaning out my coupon binder, but instead of recycling all of my expired & unwanted coupons I’m donating them!

Our military families stationed overseas are able to use the expired coupons for up to 6 months after the date of expiration!

How Long Does the Mail Take?

When sending your expired grocery coupons keep in mind the time it takes to mail your coupons internationally–usually many weeks–so do try to get them sent off quickly.  Of course if you know a military family personally you should probably send your coupons directly to them–if you do not you are welcome to send them to the bases that I have listed below.  When the coupons are received someone at the base will either distribute the coupon donations to needy families or place them in an area where they can be picked up by families at the PX or Commissary.

What types of coupons are needed?

They can only accept regular manufacturer’s coupons like those found in the newspaper inserts.  It’s also very helpful to separate the coupons into two categories, one for FOODand one for NON-FOOD, then place them in plastic bags.  This will help them with sorting for the families when they arrive at the base.

Addressing Your Package:

The post office may request a specific contact name when you go to mail your coupons.  Just explain to them that we cannot maintain a list of personal contact names because they change constantly and that you are a volunteer group donating grocery coupons to help our military families stationed overseas. The postal worker can also open and inspect the package if that will help and verify that the contents are grocery coupons being sent to our U.S. commissaries overseas.  Addressing the package directly to the Commissary or “Family Services” should also help.  Also, the USPS requests, “Do not include the country or the base camp’s city, as it might be routed through the host country’s mail system.”  We have include this extra information in our address list below so you will know where they are located, but when you mail your envelopes you will address them like this…

Military Wall of Honor

I am putting together a Military Wall of Honor video/slide show to play during Shop4Charity, and share on You Tube.

I know that many of you have served our country, or have family members and friends that have served in the United States Military in the past or are serving presently. I want this Military Wall of Honor video to represent all of our military – the past and the present – from all branches.

Do you have a photo that you would like to have included?

Please email photos to email hidden; JavaScript is required and I will be proud to add them to the video.

Thank you to everyone who has already submitted military photos. Those shared above, are just a small sample of the wonderful photos I have received of homecomings, proms, weddings, families and snapshots of the brave men and women who proudly serve our great country. Thank you for your service!
