Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, and the start of the season of Lent. Many people decide to give up something for Lent. Last year, I had decided to try out the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge. Instead of giving up one thing that doesn’t make a difference, I was going to purge my home of 40 bags of things we don’t need in our life.
Some bags will be trash from cleaning out the medicine closet or the cleaning supplies under the sink. Other bags will be items put aside for our yard sale later in the spring. And other bags may be items to be donated or put aside for consignment.
Each bag can be as large or as small as you choose. In my closet it may be one of the large trash liners, but in other cases a small shopping bag will do. The goal is to simplify life, get organized and live with less.
This might sound like an overwhelming task, but I promise you it is not. Later today, I will be making a list of projects I want to tackle over the next 40 days so that I have a starting point for my 40 bags. I will be checking in weekly with my progress, and I encourage you to do the same.
